First Meeting of Maryland’s Parent Advisory Council (M-PAC)
Education Policy subcommittee to be held February 4, 2004

Newly appointed members of Education Policy subcommittee

WHAT: Education Policy subcommittee of M-PAC convenes for the first time in a two-year-long series of meetings that will provide input to the newly established Maryland’s Parent Advisory Council.

Esther Parker, M-PAC chair and Maryland PTA president, will give an overview of the M-PAC and will share her vision for the group and how this is a pivotal time for parent involvement in Maryland and nationally. The Education Policy subcommittee will be dealing specifically with general academic policies and how improving parent involvement and communication with parents could be incorporated and positively impact student achievement.

A 30-minute public comment period will be held at the end of the meeting. Comment will be restricted to the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) only and will be limited to no longer than three minutes per person. Written statements on MSA can also be submitted online at m-pac@msde.state.md.us.
